We have seen that elliptic curves play a crucial role in cryptography.
Nonetheless, these fascinating objects appear also in other contexts.

In this talk we are going to see one connection to number theory and physics.
We will introduce the zeta function of an elliptic curve over a finite field and state the Weil conjectures for elliptic curves.

Moreover, we will show how the appearance of an elliptic curve in the study of Feynman integral can be an unlucky event for physicists. In the last part of the talk I will present some possible projects for the students for the second part of the school.
